The Artworld is going virtual and after cruising many galleries and museums all over the world on our laptops, The Los Angeles County Museum of Art is our hands-down favorite and the best adventure out there in the digital space. It was one of the first to be prepared to convert to an in-home complete experience during the current coronavirus pandemic. It offers views from its permanent collection, including Pablo Picasso, Ed Rusha, Roy Lichenstein and Henri Matisse. Some of these works are very rare and such a thrill to view.

LACMA has incredible films, documentaries and short films to view also on its site now renamed LACMA@Home. It is also changing what’s available on its website each week and as it changes selections, the museum notifies followers through social media. Currently, it has a quintessential short film narrated by Tom Waits, A Brief History of John Baldessari, which is a small masterpiece itself. The current exhibit by Luchita Hurtado is also a tremendous opportunity to hear her story and see her work through an audio program and digital walkthrough to accompany the project. Currently on exhibit and available for an exhibition walkthrough are mesmerizing works by Julie Mehretu, Rufino Tamayo and Mark Bradford. There are curated soundtracks, compositions and live recordings offered for our listening enrichment.

There are lectures, interviews and tons of fascinating essays and articles to read. LACMA has provided a rich, diverse, bold and generous gift to art lovers everywhere. Perfect. Thanks LACMA!
