Drawbertson’s Insta-Art
Meet the Andy Warhol of Instagram

Donald Robertson, or @drawbertson as he is known on Instagram, is a man of many talents. Dubbed as the Andy Warhol of Instagram this dad of 5 wears multiple hats including creative director of Esteé Lauder, product designer, illustrator, children’s book author, fashion advisor, and overall creative genius all the while raising 3-year-old rowdy, twin boys.
Mr. Robertson, who was born and raised in Toronto, was an art school dropout when he failed a life drawing class as he tended to make the model’s legs longer and slimmer. No surprise that he moved on to a job in the fashion industry and was one of the founders of MAC cosmetics. Mr. Robertson followed up as a Creative Director of major fashion magazines including Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, and Glamour. Following his editorial work, he joined Esteé Lauder and the with the birth of his twin boys also came the birth of his Instagram fame.
In today’s need for instantaneous content Mr. Robertson fits the bill. With a compulsion to draw he churns out art daily in various mediums. Along with his fashion illustrations, some of his best work have been seen on cereal boxes, a walnut collection called Fashion Nuts, a variety of art created with gaffer tape, a pizza box collection that was featured in the Bergdorf Goodman’s men’s department, and his signature lip prints. His work is so recognizable it’s been commissioned for diverse brands including Alice & Olivia (which has been worn by the Queen Bee herself Beyoncé), J. Crew, LA’s Sunset Towers powder room wallpaper, Sant and Abel pajamas, Mark Cross handbags for Kirna Zabête, and for FUNBOY pool floaties.
With Art Basel Miami approaching on December 6th, keep your eye out for Donald Robertson or @drawbertson for his next pop culture moment.
