Described by the New York Times as “the Truman Capote of his generation, or the Carrie Bradshaw,” fashion superman and best-selling author Derek Blasberg is a force to be reckoned with. He hosts CNN’s fashion & culture show “CNN Style” and is Vanity Fair’s “Man on the Street.” As if that wasn’t already enough on his plate, the guy still finds time to be the quintessential plus-one, having been on almost every model and actress’s arm for countless events and openings.

After graduating from NYU with not one but two degrees – Journalism and Dramatic Literature – Derek Blasberg began his career as an assistant at Vogue. He soon began contributing to international editions of Harper’s Bazaar, Vanity Fair, and obviously Vogue, and later released two books: 2010’s “Classy: Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady” and the 2012 sequel “Very Classy: Even More Exceptional Advice for the Extremely Modern Lady.” In 2016 he was named as the host of “CNN Style,” which casts a wide lens on the creative expressions of the art, design, fashion, and even automotive industries.

Back in June of last year, YouTube clearly followed Instagram’s fashion-following path and hired Blasberg to lead their new fashion and beauty partnerships division. His main job has been cultivating relationships with brands and influencers in order to help them use YouTube more effectively. Instagram is clearly better suited for fashion photography, but YouTube has more users (and younger ones at that), which means posts by major brands get more views.

“I’m looking forward to bridging the world of YouTube creators with the global style and beauty industries in this newly created role and department,” Blasberg said in an official statement.

Enter the world of Derek Blasberg, and who knows: you may end up walking the red carpet on his arm in no time.
