Fashion Cannes’ Best Dressed

The Cannes film festival in Cannes, France has always been a hotbed of amazing fashion. Held at the Palais des Festivals et des Congrès, the international film elite flocks to the invitation-only event for ten days of amazing film and fashion moments.
This year, we saw couture splendor, custom outfits, and gowns that can only be referred to as wearable art. Fashion darling and Cannes jury member Elle Fanning was just one of the true standouts. Wearing everything from Vivienne Westwood to Valentino, Fanning proved that she is a fashion force to be reckoned with. She made statement after statement with her nods to old Hollywood glamour, and closed the festival on May 25 in a stunning white bridal gown by Reem Acra that you need to see to believe.
Fanning said in an interview that she wished the festival could continue and that she would never forget the previous ten days. She also added that being on the jury this year transformed her and the way she views films. Jury president, director Alejandro Iñárritu, said that having Fanning’s younger presence on the jury was a gift. “Elle is an old soul in a way,” he added. “She has been doing films forever. But to have the fresh ideas, that really grounded us.” Talk about a Cannes-do attitude (my only Cannes-related pun. I swear)!
Another red carpet standout this year was Margot Robbie, who was there to debut her new film, Quentin Tarantino’s hotly anticipated “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” Rocking Chanel for both the Vanity Fair party and red carpet, she truly made a lasting statement alongside co-stars Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio. If you noticed that her look was inspired by retro style, you’d be right. Robbie brilliantly sported the exact same hairstyle worn by Sharon Tate to Cannes in 1968.
