Lebron James: The King Of Fashion

By now, Lebron James has become just as well known for what he’s doing off the court as he has on the court. His fashion evolution is just one of those things that has kept our eyes (along with millions of others) glued to the superstar. Not only is James the best player on the court at any given moment, he’s also got a monopoly on style.
Oftentimes subtle, other times flashy, Lebron James has found a continual groove that has made him the best-dressed player in basketball. Along with the expert eye of celebrity mega-stylist Rachel Johnson (who is widely credited with single-handedly making over the NBA), James has managed to remain sartorially steadfast in a profession not exactly known for its fashion prowess.
A big factor in James’ fashion overhaul is something quite simple: embracing newness. He let go of the baggy, streetwear-heavy “uniform” of yesteryear’s press junkets and appearances in favor of tucked tees and tailored trousers. As James gained more and more attention both on and off the court, his naturally regal demeanor and understated bravado began to flow effortlessly over his Tom Ford suits and Hermes overcoats.
As recently as the 2017-18 season, James has been embracing a uniform known to fashionistas across the globe for years: the guaranteed chic of all black. Pairing biker jackets with hoodies, or slim pants with beanies for added cool factor, the sleek and tailored look of head-to-toe black gave otherwise humdrum looks an elevated facelift. Also, during the playoffs of that season, his Thom Browne suiting was a revelation for menswear nerds everywhere.
A vast number of accomplishments throughout Lebron James’ career have added to a running tally rivaled only by very few. Just one of these accomplishments, his evolved and aspirational sense of style, has influenced thousands (if not millions) of people who may not have been tuned in to the sports world at all beforehand. Through his influence and prowess both on and off the court, James has proven himself to be not only one of the most important basketball players of a generation, but arguably one of the most culturally important athletes in history.
No one knows this better than Lebron James himself, and he wears his robes with the ease of any righteous king.
