HUNTER MCGRADY
Supermodel, Super Activist and Designer

If you aren’t yet familiar with Hunter McGrady, you should be.
The supermodel and activist has been a champion of body positivity ever since she was a young girl growing up in Thousand Oaks, CA. Her mission is to constantly challenge conventional norms, and not just for the plus-size community. She advocates for all marginalized groups, from those of different races to those of different genders and sexualities. She looks at inclusivity not as a trendy topic, but as a basic human right, and we at PROVOKR are 100% here for it.
Her resume certainly speaks for itself. In 2013, she was signed to Wilhelmina Models (her mother was personally mentored by Wilhelmina Cooper herself) on the spot and soon began landing jobs with brands like Lucky and Lane Bryant. Her main goal, however, was to be featured in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. Her dream came true in 2017 when she became the curviest model ever to grace the pages of the magazine (wearing nothing but body paint no less!). She quickly became part of the Sports Illustrated family – in 2018 she was featured as a member of that year’s “Rookie Class,” and in 2019’s Swimsuit Issue she penned an article about the importance of diversity within the media. This year marked her fourth year in a row in the Swimsuit Issue, this time shot by photographer Yu Tsai in Bali, Indonesia, and the images are absolutely gorgeous.
As if she wasn’t busy enough, this year Hunter used her platform as a curve model to launch her fashion line All Worthy by Hunter McGrady, in partnership with QVC. The name “All Worthy” came from a hashtag she created to coincide with her first Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue. It’s also a brand name one can take quite literally, as Hunter developed her line via direct communication with her Instagram followers. She posted different polls and questions on her Instagram stories, which allowed her followers to share their thoughts with her directly. She soon had enough data and feedback to eventually develop the most inclusive fashion line possible, and her decision to partner with QVC only increased this freedom.
All Worthy features wardrobe essentials for every woman, regardless of size, age, etc. Every piece in her line ranges from XXS to 5XL – whether it be a simple graphic tee or a chic jumpsuit. The size inclusivity doesn’t stop there, though. The numbered sizes range from size 0 to 36, and inseams can be found in both petite and long lengths. Furthermore, it’s not just the sizing that makes everyone welcome at All Worthy – the prices also ensure that everyone can have a piece of the brand. Scoop neck tanks start at $29.50, while blazer dresses start at $89.75 (and don’t worry – the cheaper price tag does NOT mean cheaper quality). If you haven’t figured it out by now, Hunter is not just throwing the term “inclusivity” around. She really means it.
The fashion world has been waiting for someone like Hunter McGrady for a long time. She fully embraces her curves, and her stunning modeling work lets girls out there know that said curves are beautiful and should be celebrated. The fashion world that Hunter envisions is a better world for everyone, and we’re just happy to be included.
