Keith Haring Flies Coach

The lux line honors the artist's whimsy

What a bright, sparking show presented by Coach 1941 for Spring/Summer 2018! Creative Director Stuart Vevers designed a lively collection of sequined slipdresses, embellished denim, and, of course, plenty of leather on the clothing and the Coach accessories.

But what makes the line so special this season is the addition of the whimsical and political art by the late, great 80s innovator, Keith Haring. First discovered in the tunnels of New York City’s subways where he painted his graffiti-inspired work, Haring caused a stir amongst the street-wise art collectors, many ripping his artwork down from the subway walls. A gay man with HIV, his all-inclusive work struck a chord with queers and AIDS activists while still being hugely popular with the masses. For the new line, in collaboration with the Haring estate, Coach included many of his familiar images on jackets, shirts, and bags.

Fun, feminine, and fierce, this Coach 1941 collection is one we will definitely be seeing on the streets, exactly where Haring‘s work belongs.
