Louis Vuitton Gets Animated
League of Legends Goes Lux

Every holiday season, we ask ourselves, “What does one get for that person who has everything?” Well, this year you can get said person a $5,600 League of Legends jacket by Louis Vuitton.
The famed fashion house recently released a capsule collection with Riot Games’ League of Legends. The global eSport and Louis Vuitton have collaborated before, and this time around, female shoppers are the big focus. Spearheaded by women’s artistic director Nicolas Ghesquière, the capsule is inspired by the game’s famous champions, like Qiyana, and features a new camo monogram motif with blue, gold, and silver accents. It’s being branded as LVxLoL. The collaboration was first announced in September, when Louis Vuitton created a one-of-a-kind trophy case for the coveted Summoner’s Cup, which was awarded to FunPlus Phoenix after their victory over G2 Esports in the Worlds 2019 finals.
Louis Vuitton is no stranger to gaming collaborations. For their spring/summer 2016 campaign, the label used the Final Fantasy character Lightning as one of the featured faces. This time around, Vuitton has tapped the potential of League of Legends’ eight-million-plus daily gamers – a HUGE pool of often-untapped fashion consumers. However, even though this capsule is directed at gamers, that doesn’t mean it’s particularly affordable. A zip-up hoodie for $2,420, a Qiyana-inspired dress for $2,280, LVxLoL joggers for $1,610…not exactly accessible for the everyday gamer. Even the short sleeve T-shirt featuring the Prestige Qiyana skin will set you back $670. With the average League of Legends skin costing between $10 and $15, one shirt from this capsule collection would be equivalent to…well…a lot of skins. Oh, well. Since when has Louis Vuitton cared about being accessible?
According to Louis Vuitton, the pieces will ship to stores in February or March of 2020. To tide us over, there are plenty of places to see the looks online, including here, of course.
