Designer Atsuko Kudo is making fashion kinky
In the recent New York Times story on how fetish wear (think harnesses and corsets) has been infiltrating fashion, high-wattage designers like Marc Jacobs, Alexander Wang and Carolina Herrera were cited as those who have been seduced by the trend. Tucked in among that list of luminaries, however, was a lesser-known, but equally powerful force behind the fetishization of fashion: Atsuko Kudo. Kudo is a Japanese designer who’s been producing latex women’s wear since 2001. She’s produced couture latex outfits for Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Jennifer Lawrence, and in 2014 her work created a worldwide sensation when Kim Kardashian wore one of her form-fitting dresses to an event in Australia.
