Uber-talented fashion photographer Nick Knight continues to amaze us with his latest projects.  Two of his recent films only further cement his place at the head of the pack.

Maison Margiela artistic director John Galliano and Knight have teamed up for projects before, and as expected, their latest partnership does not disappoint.  Entitled Squidge, the film depicts a whole new world for Galliano’s abstract visions.  Inspired by Margiela’s Artisinal Fall/Winter 2018 collection, Knight showcases Molly Blair and Adesuwa Aighewi as they present the collection’s disproportionately voluminous looks in an abstract, yet fully functional space.  The film is shot in both panoramic and full 360⁰ format, which completely immerses the viewer in the film experience.  Another highlight of this film is its soundtrack.  Erik Satie’s “Je Te Veux (Valse Pour Piano),” performed by Klara Kormendi, helps further immerse the viewer in Knight’s trippy vision for the Margiela house.

Knight’s other film features model Adwoa Aboah and acts as a sort of love letter to the metropolis.  It’s a virtual fashion feast, with designs by Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs and Vivienne Westwood all making appearances.  This ode to the grit and glamour of cities was filmed and edited by Raquel Couceiro and Myles Henrik Hall, with a just-as-gritty soundtrack provided by Camden-based musician Bakar.  The film plays with different lighting concepts (as do most of Knight’s films), which in this case serves to further remind us of the constantly changing lights of different cityscapes.  The amazing fashion in the film is allowed to truly flow and shine, thanks to the steadfast dedication to keeping everything else in the film quite industrial.
