2020 has certainly been a strange year for movies. With the coronavirus pandemic closing theaters, there’s been a significant halt in movie releases. Many are now pushed back to 2021, and some studios are releasing films on demand. We can still celebrate what we did get to see, and what better way to do that than by celebrating the seven sexiest men in film this year?

Henry Cavill

When The Witcher dropped on Netflix at the end of 2019, we were treated to Henry Cavill like we’d never before seen him. Instead of the usually put together, classic leading man, we got to see a long-haired, dare we say, dirty version of the British star. And we couldn’t get enough of it. Cavill only had one film in 2020, Enola Holmes, but his interpretation of a buff, emotional Sherlock Holmes, was enough to keep us thirsting.

 

Timothée Chalamet

Ok, we know we said that the men on this list had at least one movie come out this year, but because of the pandemic, Chalamet actually hasn’t had any new films come out in 2020. That being said, he did have a cameo appearance in Luca Guadagnino’s We Are Who We Are. He also has the highly anticipated Dune coming out in 2021.

 

Winston Duke

Although he’d been acting in television from 2014-2016, his role as M’Baku in 2018’s Black Panther put Duke on the map as a sexy man in Hollywood. Duke has had two movies come out this year, Nine Days, which premiered at Sundance and will have a wider release in 2021, and Spenser Confidential, which came out on Netflix in March. In both, Duke got to step into leading man territory, and we couldn’t be more pleased.

 

Henry Golding

His big break may have only come two years ago with 2018’s Crazy Rich Asians, but that was enough to establish Golding as a Hollywood heartthrob. This year he has two very different new movies. Golding was a drug kingpin in Guy Ritchie’s The Gentlemen, which came out in March. The second, Monsoon, will come out this November. In the movie, Golding plays a gay Vietnamese-British man who returns to Vietnam for the first time in 30 years. There he strikes up a romance with American Lewis (Parker Sawyers).

 

Armie Hammer

Hammer’s 2020 films aren’t out yet, but that doesn’t mean they don’t already have people talking. Up first, Hammer stars in Netflix’s adaptation of Daphne du Maurier’s Rebecca, which comes out October 21, just in time for Halloween. And in December, Hammer has another movie adapted from a book, Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Death on the Nile.

 

Chris Hemsworth

Hemsworth walks that exciting line between being a bona fide action star and a wonderful comedic actor. He got to combine those chops in 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. This year, Hemsworth had one movie come out on Netflix. In Extraction, Hemsworth played a black market mercenary hired to help rescue the kidnapped son of a crime lord. Hemsworth got to show off his stage combat skills and his muscles.

 

Liam Hemsworth

Yes, the younger Hemsworth brother also finds his way onto this list. Some seriously good genes must run in this family. Liam may be younger than Chris, but that doesn’t make him any less sexy. This year, Hemsworth starred in the action, crime drama Arkansas as well as the TV miniseries Most Dangerous Game. We’d really love to see these two brothers team up on a project one day.

 

Tom Holland

Yes, you probably associate this British star with playing the latest iteration of Peter Parker/Spider-Man in the Spider-Man and Avengers films, but  that’s not all this charming young man has done. This year, he showed off his more dramatic chops when he starred in Antonio Campos’ The Devil All the Time on Netflix. Holland has quickly proven that he is both a very talented comedic actor, and a rising heartthrob.

 

Robert Pattinson

Although filming for his next film had to be put on hold, Pattinson had a pretty good slate of movies come out this year. First, he had Christopher Nolan’s newest sci-fi mind-bender, Tenet. The film followed a plot to prevent World War III. And then, Pattinson played a smarmy, underhanded preacher in Antonio Campos’ The Devil All the Time, which Netflix released in September.

 

And last, but not least: Chadwick Boseman

We weren’t sure whether to include Boseman, who died in August. So we decided it was best to give him an honorable mention. This wonderfully talented actor was not only sexy because of his physical appearance, but for who he was as a person. It’s reported he had his paycheck for the 2019 action flick 21 Bridges, cut so that his co-star, Sienna Miller, would be paid fairly. Boseman was a phenomenal actor who disappeared into every role he played. Be sure to watch his final performances in Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, available now on Netflix, and in Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom, which comes out December 18, 2020.
