Horror movies don’t always get the best rap. They are often looked down upon by major award festivals as a lowbrow form of entertainment. Of course, every once in a while, a prestigious horror film is released and wins significant awards. Whether you consider horror movies as high art or just base entertainment, it doesn’t negate how immensely popular they are. There’s a lot to say about horror as a genre and why so many enjoy being scared witless.
