2 FROM BELLA THORNE
Bella Acts Up In Time Is Up + Habit

Bella Thorne stars opposite her real-life fiance, Benjamin Mascolo, in the upcoming teen romantic drama Time Is Up. The film marks Mascolo’s — one-half of the Italian pop duo Benji and Fedi — acting debut. It must have been nice to get to act in his first project opposite his real-life love. The synopsis for the film reads: “Vivien is a highly accomplished student, with a passion for physics and keen to get into a prestigious American university. She seems to live her own life as a mathematical formula that drives her to look at her own happiness as something to be postponed into the future. Roy, on the other hand, is a troubled and problematic young man who, due to a trauma suffered as a child, sees his desires continually hindered by a past that seems to constantly haunt him. But mathematics too has its variables and as always happens, life manages to weave events together in increasingly surprising and unexpected ways. Indeed, an accident will force them to come to a stop and reclaim their lives, and finally start living in a present that perhaps will prove to be more exciting than any predefined formula.”

Time Is Up was directed by Elisa Amoruso, from a script she co-wrote with Patrizia Fiorellini and Lorenzo Ura. While it was filmed over the last two months of 2020 in Rome, Italy, it is in English. The movie will be released in select American theaters on September 9, 2021. The screenings, hosted by Fathom Events, will be followed by a Q+A with Thorne and Mascolo. That will be followed by a VOD release on September 24, 2021.
Thorne is, of course, best known for getting her start on the Disney Channel in the show Shake It Up, in which she starred opposite Zendaya. Although by the time she was cast in Shake It Up, she had already been acting since early childhood, her role as CeCe Jones started to make her famous. After Shake It Up ended, Thorne decided to shed her Disney girl image and take on more provocative roles in projects like The Babysitter and Famous in Love.
See Time Is Up premieres on September 9, 2021. You can also watch it from the comfort of home when it comes to VOD on September 24, 2021.
Time Is Up is not Thorne’s only upcoming project. She also stars in the recently released drama flick Habit. If the title conjures up images on nuns, you would not be totally wrong. The film follows an L.A. party girl (Thorne) who is forced to go on the run with her friends from a dangerous drug lord after they find themselves in his bad graces. With nowhere to hide, the young women disguise themselves as a group of nuns.
Habit was released by Lionsgate on August 20, 2021 and can currently be watched on demand.
