2 FROM KRISTEN STEWART
Princess Di + Cronenberg's Remake

Oscar-winner Kristen Stewart? If she’s not the winner, she’s going to be a nominee. The 31-year-old actress best known for her roles in Twilight and a handful of indie films (like Personal Shopper) is rushing into awards season with the biopic Spencer. The Pablo Larraín film chronicles Princess Diana’s separation from Prince Charles if you haven’t heard of it.
“It’s only three days of her life,” Larraín told Deadline about the movie’s structure, “and in that very small amount of time, you’re able to get into a wider, bigger perspective of who she was. We all know her fate, what happened to her, and we don’t need to go there. We’ll stay in this more intimate space where she could express where she wants to go and who she wants to be.”
Yeah, so K-Stew is playing Princess Diana. And before you can say, “that’s so camp,” you HAVE to watch the trailer. Based on the minimal footage, it seems Larraín has uncovered something that has so far gone untapped in Stewart’s career. It’s very similar to his work with Natalie Portman for Jackie, for which she was nominated for an Oscar. Now, that’s not to say Stewart is a bad actress. Quite the contrary. She is marvelous, and playing Princess Di seems to have allowed her the space to grow in her trade.

Stewart portrays the British icon on the big screen. Still, she also tapped into the late figure’s philanthropic side. She donated $50 for every cast and crew member to two charities Princess Di worked with until she died in 1997: the National AIDS Trust and Mines Advisory Group. So if, I mean, when Stewart lands the nomination for Best Actress, it will be in 2022 — 25 years after the death of Princess Diana. The release date is set for November 5, 2021.
But wait, there’s more. Stewart is also set to star in David Cronenberg’s remake of his Crimes of the Future. You read that right. Cronenberg is doing what only he can do and remaking his movie. That’s a bold choice. Kristen Stewart leads the cast along with Léa Seydoux and Viggo Mortensen.
Just one look at the clip below will show you we’re in for a wild one with Crimes of the Future.

Back to K-Stew. Her career continues to take her to new heights, and Spencer is just the beginning. We can’t wait to see her in these two films.
