5 2020 FILMS TO DIE FOR
James Bond, Antlers, Black Widow + more

2020 is right around the corner and PROVOKR is excited for the new year. Let’s take a look at 5 new, thrilling, action-packed films we are looking forward to.
The Grudge
The Grudge film series continues in 2020. This new entry won’t be a remake or a reboot, it comes between events of the 2004 and 2006 films. The movie focuses on a woman and a detective (Betty Gilpin and Andrea Riseborough). They team up to investigate a mother who kills her children and then commits suicide. They also discover that the house, the woman lived in, is haunted by a vengeful spirit. That spirit causes the death of anyone who comes into the house so they must fight to save their own lives. The Grudge will be released January 3, 2020.
Fantasy Island
Based on a 1970s TV series, Fantasy Island follows a group invited to Mr. Roarke’s (Michael Peña) exotic, remote island. What seems like the vacation of a lifetime, soon, becomes a living nightmare. Mr. Roarke’s guests must band together to survive at the mysterious resort. Fantasy Island is produced by Blumhouse Pictures, the studio that now dominates the horror genre. If you like scary movies more than love stories, this is the film for you. Fantasy Island comes out on Valentine’s Day, 2020.
No Time to Die
Who isn’t excited for Daniel Craig’s fifth and final James Bond film? No Time to Die finds a retired Bond dragged back into espionage by an old CIA-friend. What sets this Bond film apart from the rest is that, for the first time, a woman (Lashana Lynch) takes on the 007 mantle. Even more exciting, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, the mastermind behind Killing Eve and Fleabag, wrote the script. Check out the trailer and see No Time to Die in theaters, starting on April 10, 2020.
Antlers
This Fox Searchlight film looks truly unsettling. It tracks an Oregon school teacher (Keri Russell) who teams up with her brother, the sheriff (Jesse Plemons). They discover one of her students’ dark secrets. Not much else is known about the plot, but, don’t be creeped out when you watch the trailer. The film was produced by the king of fantastical horror himself, Guillermo del Toro, so you know you’re in for a treat. Antlers comes out April 17, 2020.
Black Widow
10 years after Iron Man 2, Natasha Romanoff, aka Black Widow, is finally getting her own movie. Set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, Black Widow follows Romanoff as she travels to Russia to discover her past. One of the most mysterious characters in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, Black Widow, finally introduces us to Romanoff’s past. That also includes former associates Yelena (Florence Pugh), Melina (Rachel Weisz) and Alexei (David Harbour). Black Widow will be released May 1, 2020.
