February may be the month of love, but that doesn’t mean every movie release has to be about romance. Even on Valentine’s Day, some people would prefer to watch a horror movie or a comedy. After all, the adrenaline released by watching a horror movie may be a turn-on for some couples. Here are five new films that are sure to be fantastical. No romances here.

Birds of Prey

This superhero movie is the ultimate girl-power, down-with-men movie. It follows a newly single Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie) as she teams up with other super-women: Huntress (Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Black Canary (Jurnee Smollett-Bell) and Renee Montoya (Rosie Perez) to save a girl from an egomaniacal crime lord. The Lodge

Riley Keough stars in this slow-burn horror movie as a woman, who, along with her two soon-to-be stepchildren (Jaeden Martell and Lia McHugh), find themselves snowed in in the family’s winter cabin.

Strange and terrifying events begin to affect the isolated trio. To survive, she must face demons from her past. See The Lodge in theaters February 7, 2020.

Fantasy Island

Yes, this is a remake of the 1970s TV show of the same name. The movie follows a group of people invited to mysterious Mr. Roarke’s (Michael Peña) private island.  At first, Mr. Roarke and his staff make guests’ dreams come true, but it all quickly turns into nightmares.  The guests must unravel the island’s mysteries to survive. See Fantasy Island in theaters Valentine’s Day 2020.

The Invisible Man

Elisabeth Moss stars as a haunted woman in this adaptation of the H.G. Wells novel. When her abusive ex-boyfriend allegedly commits suicide and leaves her a small fortune, Cecilia (Moss), believes it’s all a hoax.  She soon becomes plagued by an invisible force whom she believes to be her abusive ex. See The Invisible Man in theaters February 28, 2020.

Wendy

From the man who brought us Beasts of the Southern Wild, comes Peter Pan as you’ve never seen him before.

In this climate change analogy, young Wendy Darling (Devin France) is kidnapped and whisked away to an island where suspicious pollen disrupts time. There, she meets the never-aging Peter Pan (Yashua Mack).  See Wendy in theaters February 28, 2020.
