BELLA THORNE
OnlyFans Record Breaker, Movie Star + more

Former Disney Channel star Bella Thorne recently caused controversy when she created an account on the site OnlyFans. For those unfamiliar with the platform, OnlyFans is a content subscription-based site. It allows content creators to post work and receive payment from their fans/followers. The site is primarily popular among sex workers who have flocked to it during the pandemic to generate an income. This August, Thorne decided to sign up as a content creator. She claimed it was for research purposes for a new film she’d be working on with Sean Baker (The Florida Project and Tangerine). Baker later chimed in to say he and Thorne were not, and had never been, working on a film together.
Within a day, she had allegedly made $1m off of fans. The issue did not lie with Thorne creating an OnlyFans account per se—although many did point out she was taking away work and money from people who needed it—but when she started charging $200 for supposed nude photographs. However, she did not deliver nudes, but instead photos of her in lingerie. As you can imagine, her fans were not pleased and demanded refunds. This led to OnlyFans putting a $50 cap on how much creators could charge their subscribers for exclusive content, and a cap of $100 on tips. Additionally, creators could now only be paid monthly, instead of weekly. While OnlyFans claimed that these changes had nothing to do with Thorne’s actions, it seemed too much a coincidence to not be related.
Thorne apologized and tweeted she’d meet with OnlyFans to discuss its changes to the site. So, if Thorne is not working on an upcoming project with Baker, you might be curious to know what projects she does have on the horizon. While she has many projects in various pre-production stages, she has four films that audiences can expect to see this year. Let’s take a look at them now.
The Babysitter: Killer Queen
Two years after the events of the first film, Cole (Judah Lewis) is trying to get on with his life after surviving a satanic blood cult. However, the demons from his past are always lurking around the corner. The Babysitter: Killer Queen comes out on September 10.
Chick Fight
In this action-comedy, Anna Wyncomb (Malin Akerman) joins an underground, all-women fight club to turn her life around. She soon finds herself connecting with the other women, and the sport, in ways she never imagined. Chick Fight comes out on November 13.
Masquerade
This home invasion thriller follows 11-year-old Casey (Alyvia Alyn Lind), who must survive the night when Rose (Thorne) and her ruthless gang break into her family’s home searching for artwork. Masquerade is expected to come out later this year.
Girl
Thorne stars as the film’s titular Girl, who returns to her small town to murder her abusive father. Upon her return, however, she is surprised to learn he’s already dead. Girl is expected to come out later this year.
