CATE BLANCHETT AS BERNADETTE
Where’d You Go Bernadette: Film And Best-Selling Novel

The summer film schedule can be bogged down with so many flashy, over-the-top action films and blockbusters that we viewers forget to slow down and just feel good. PROVOKR has you covered, though, with our recommendation of Cate Blanchett’s new film, Where’d You Go Bernadette.
The film follows at-home mom and former architect who disappears to work on a project in Antarctica. She’s far away from her obnoxious neighbor, who is played by the wonderful Kristen Wiig, and her family. But her family is extremely supportive. Her daughter, Bee (Emma Nelson) is actually her biggest cheerleader. She just wants her mom to be happy (and to stop harassing the neighbors).
The film is based on the best-selling novel of the same name. It was written by Maria Semple and published in 2012. The adaption is directed by Richard Linklater, who is best known for Boyhood, so you know it’s going to be great. The film is as feel-good as the book, and we can’t wait to see the cast at work. The film also stars Judy Greer, Troian Bellisario, Laurence Fishburne, Billy Crudup and Kate Burton.
Where’d You Go Bernadette opens August 16.
