Now that we’re all sequestered to the confines of our own homes to stop the spread of COVID-19, we have a lot of extra time on our hands. Some believe this period of confinement will lead to a baby boom.If anyone needs help, here are the most erotic films, all set in confined or isolated spaces.

The Beguiled (2017)

When wounded Union soldier John McBurney (Colin Farrell) is taken in by Martha Farnsworth (Nicole Kidman), he finds himself in a school for girls. Soon sexual tensions rise between McBurney, the teacher Edwina Morrow (Kirsten Dunst) and eldest student Alicia (Elle Fanning).

Bent (1997)

First things first, this movie will make you sob uncontrollably. Set during WWII, it follows Max (Clive Owen), a gay man in a concentration camp. There he falls in love with fellow inmate, Horst (Lothaire Bluteau). Of course, the two cannot touch at risk of being killed, yet this emotional and verbal-only sex scene is one of the most erotic and poignant ever.

The Blue Lagoon (1980)

In this romantic drama, children Emmeline (Elva Josephson) and Richard (Glenn Kohan) survive a shipwreck and find themselves marooned on an uninhabited island. As they become young adults, now played by Brooke Shields and Christopher Atkins, they begin to explore not only the island but each other.

Equals (2015)

The two leads (Kristin Stewart and Nicholas Hoult) in this dystopian sci-fi, where emotions don’t exist, are not living in confinement or isolation. But, they have to completely hide their romance from the outside world or risk arrest for having emotions.

Ex Machina (2014)

When Caleb (Domhnall Gleeson) wins a contest to spend a week at the estate of wealthy Nathan Bateman (Oscar Isaac), he’s thrilled. He soon learns that he will take part in a test to determine the consciousness of robot Ava (Alicia Vikander). One isolated estate, two men, and a seductive robot, what could go wrong?

Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985)

Set in a Brazilian prison, inmate Luis Molina (William Hurt) passes the time by recounting the plots of movies to cellmate Valentin Arregui (Raul Julia), a political prisoner. As the two grow closer, they begin to develop great respect for one another and Molina eventually falls in love with Valentin.

Un Chant D’amour (1950)

This short film by Jean Genet is notable in that, like Bent, it doesn’t contain a real sex scene. And yet, the part where the two prisoners, separated by thick cell walls, blow cigarette smoke into each other’s mouth through a hole in the wall is regarded as one of the most erotic moments in queer film history.
