The force may be strong with this one, but how well do you know the Star Wars universe’s newest leading lady? Daisy Ridley was born April 10, 1992 in Westminster, London to a banker mother and photographer father. Like many aspiring actors, Ridley spent her time auditioning and working as a bartender in different London pubs. After several short films, she made her feature film debut in the horror movie, Scrawl. It must be noted that there is debate whether Scrawl or Star Wars: The Force Awakens was her actual feature debut. Both films came out in 2015. Regardless, her role as Rey in The Force Awakens was considered a breakout performance and set her on the path to stardom.

Ridley keeps busy between Star Wars with other projects. She starred in an ensemble of Kenneth Branagh’s adaptation of Agatha Christie’s Murder on the Orient Express. She also played the titular Ophelia in Ophelia, Claire McCarthy’s feminist retelling of Hamlet’s doomed love interest. Now, with her last Star Wars movie, The Rise of Skywalker, coming out soon (at least last movie until they announce another trilogy) you may be wondering what’s next for the starlet? She currently has two other projects in post-production: Peter Rabbit 2: The Runaway, in which she voices Peter Rabbit and Chaos Walking, a sci-fi film directed by Doug Liman. She is also attached to Marielle Heller’s next film, Kolma, the plot details are under wraps plus she’s set to play American spy, Virginia Hall, in A Woman of No Importance.

While her time wielding a lightsaber may be winding down, her star power is gearing up. And, we here at PROVOKR are excited to follow her career.
