His time playing the iconic James Bond may be coming to an end with No Time to Die, but Daniel Craig has the acting chops to play more than just the womanizing, martini drinking, British spy. Here are 5 of the British actor’s best roles, and yes, we had to include one Bond movie on here.

The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo

In this David Fincher adaptation of the Stieg Larsson book, Craig plays journalist Mikael Blomkvist. While Fincher did not go on to adapt the other books in the series to films, he did give us one of the best adaptations of Larsson’s books. Of course, part of what made this version so good was the chemistry between Craig’s Blomkvist and Rooney Mara’s Lisbeth Salander.

Layer Cake

In Matthew Vaughn’s directorial debut, Daniel Craig stars as a drug dealer who is looking to get out of the business but gets caught up in a kidnapping plot. If you are a fan of Craig’s performance of James Bond, then you need to watch Layer Cake. It is Craig’s performance in this movie that is credited with him landing the role of James Bond.

Knives Out

Daniel Craig exercises his comedic chops in this whodunnit mystery from Rian Johnson. In Knives Out, Craig stars as a private detective called in to investigate the murder of an eccentric, wealthy crime novelist. Not only does Craig get to show off his comedic timing with this role, but we’d be remiss if we didn’t mention that southern accent.

Road to Perdition

In this Sam Mendes mob movie, Craig shows us that he has a dark side too. In Road to Perdition, he plays Connor Rooney, a member of the Irish mob who, out of jealousy, turns on his associate Michael Sullivan (Tom Hanks). This movie marks one of the instances where Craig plays the antagonist instead of the protagonist.

Skyfall

We have no idea how the upcoming Bond film, No Time to Die is going to be, but as of now, Skyfall is without a doubt the best of Craig’s Bond films. This Sam Mendes-directed movie is a highlight among the modern Bond movies. And, it’s not because of the scene between Craig’s Bond and Javier Bardem’s villainous Silva.
