Given how 2020 has gone so far, we really have no idea how the rest of the year will pan out. That being said, here is a list of films, currently scheduled to come out this fall that we are looking forward to. Of course, all these release dates are subject to change.
SEPTEMBER
A Quiet Place Part II
Release: September 4, 2020
Following the events of the first film, the surviving members of the Abbott family (Emily Blunt, Millicent Simmonds, and Noah Jupe) must venture outside of their home and face the terrors that await them in the outside world. As they search for safety, they come to learn that the creatures they’ve been hiding from all these years are not the only threats that face them.
The King’s Man
Release: September 18, 2020
In this prequel to The Kingsman series set in the early 1900s, history’s worst tyrants band together to wage a war that could kill millions. It is up to one man and his protégé to do all they can to stop these criminals. In the process, they create the super-secret spy organization: Kingsman.
Candyman
Release: September 25, 2020
In this sequel to the 1992 film of the same name, directed by Nia DaCosta and written by Jordan Peele, a decade after the Cabrini towers were torn down, a man and his girlfriend move into the now gentrified neighborhood. There he learns of the history of Candyman and unwittingly opens a door that unleashes a new wave of violence and terror.
OCTOBER
Wonder Woman 1984
Release: October 2, 2020
Gal Gadot returns in the sequel to 2017’s Wonder Woman. This time, the film follows our titular hero as she takes on a big bad in 1984. In addition to Gadot, Chris Pine also returns as Steve Trevor. Given his character’s fate at the end of the first movie, it will be interesting to see how they explain his appearance in the sequel.
Death on the Nile
Release: October 9, 2020
This adaptation of the Agatha Christie mystery, directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh, follows detective Hercule Poirot (Branagh). While vacationing in Egypt, Poirot is tasked with discovering who murdered the heiress, Linnet Ridgeway Doyle (Gal Gadot), aboard a cruise ship on the Nile River.
The French Dispatch
Release: October 16, 2020
Wes Anderson‘s love of The New Yorker inspired him to create The French Dispatch. The movie, which takes place in the offices of an American publication in a fictional 20th-century French city, follows three separate storylines, in different time periods, based on actual events covered by The New Yorker.
NOVEMBER
Black Widow
Release: November 6, 2020
Set between the events of Captain America: Civil War and Avengers: Infinity War, Black Widow follows Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson) as she travels to Russia to face her past. One of the most mysterious characters in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe, Black Widow, finally introduces us to Romanoff’s backstory.
No Time To Die
Release: November 20, 2020
The last James Bond movie that stars Daniel Craig, will follow a retired Bond as he is dragged back into the secret service to help find a missing scientist. This film will mark the first time a woman will wear the mantle of 007. The script was also written by Phoebe Waller-Bridge of Fleabag and Killing Eve fame.
