Fantastical MIB: International
Chris Hemsworth and Tessa Thompson are Agent H and Agent M

Summer’s not even here yet and it looks like Emma Thompson has some of the best one-liners of the season in the upcoming Men in Black International. With her supremely elegant and slightly icy English-accented delivery of “Do you really think a black suit is going to solve all your problems?” the audience will most likely be thinking that, yes: maybe an impeccably tailored, sharp black suit will solve all of their style-related movie-going problems. With her ominous remark that “We may have a problem in London,” viewers of the trailer are already reminded of Hamlet’s “Something is rotten in the state of Denmark” and that danger is afoot.
What could possibly be more fun than oogling Chris Hemsworth in dark shades and a two-piece suit as he wields shiny weaponry and drives fast, sleek cars? Oh, I know! Oogling Chris Hemsworth as he rides a jet ski with his hair blowing in the wind! Or could the most exciting aspect of the upcoming Men in Black International be his flirtation and intense chemistry with young starlet Tessa Thompson (who looks like a honey-colored Marsha Marson circa 1973)? It’s already tantalizing that the Men in Black are now men and women in black and that they get into crazy adventures together fighting off aliens and little monster-like creatures because, when one is all tangled up in warfare against otherworldly lifeforms, one is bound to get sweaty in their black tailored suit and, hopefully, remove their jacket to reveal a crisp white shirt and collar (this, by the way, reeks sex). Whoever said that holding back isn’t sexy doesn’t know much about tantalization or the art of the tease.
Chris Hemsworth aside, there’s also Liam Neeson to consider as the character High T: how could anyone resist his northern-Irish brogue and aged-like-a-fine-wine good looks? The fantasy that he and Emma Thompson’s character may wrinkle their cuffs a bit isn’t lost on me and it won’t be on the audience either: there’s something major to be said about aging actresses today: they look better than ever. With her svelte physique and Jim Jarmusch-inspired shock of white hair, Thompson is incredibly sexy and, can you believe it, she knows a thing or two!
With incredible shots of Paris, New York and London, the audience will quickly be taken away on adventures to not only the world’s most fabulous cities but to supernatural dimensions as well. As the agents (Thompson and Hemsworth) work to save the planet, it looks like there will also be a bit of play as well (because, as we all know, all work and no play makes us dull). The trailer teases a night club scene where the tie comes off and just the first couple of buttons are undone on Hemsworth’s pressed white shirt. While the audience waits for the inevitable love story between the two main agents to unfold, the build-up—complete with both in dark sunglasses while riding through the air on a hover bike and racing down streets to chase down aliens—will, hopefully, end in a terrific climax.
