FORGET IT, BEN
Affleck Takes on Chinatown

Ben Affleck may be banned from attending the premiere of the new James Bond flick No Time to Die with Ana de Armas, due to producers’ fears that the couple’s PDA will be a distraction for the press, but he shouldn’t be too sad. After all, he’s got a lot more work to excite him. Affleck has a whole slate of projects in various stages of development and not all of it is acting.
He is currently producing, directing and starring in Witness for the Prosecution, an adaptation of the Agatha Christie novel, plus a war film called Ghost Army. He’s also signed on to write, produce and star in Ridley Scott’s new film The Last Duel. The movie follows a confrontation between King Charles VI and Knight Jean de Carrouges (Matt Damon). He is also rumored to be starring in an upcoming but untitled sequel to the 2016 movie The Accountant. And, he will be reprising his role as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the upcoming The Flash movie.
What we might be most intrigued by is The Big Goodbye. Deadline recently reported that Affleck had signed on to write, direct and produce a film adaptation of the Sam Wasson novel The Big Goodbye: Chinatown and the Last Years of Hollywood for Paramount Pictures. The movie, just titled The Big Goodbye will follow the story of the 1974 Roman Polanski classic Chinatown, which starred Jack Nicholson and Faye Dunaway. It is unknown whether Affleck will star in the film as well, but he may be interested in portraying either Nicholson or Chinatown screenwriter Robert Towne.
Affleck hasn’t directed a film since 2016’s, Live By Night, so it’s exciting to see he has new behind-the-camera projects ahead. As news of The Big Goodbye was just revealed, the project is still too new for us to know anything else. But we will be waiting to find out more. And, when we do, we’ll let you know.
