JENNIFER CONNELLY
Brave, Intuitive, Sensual Acting

To say we have a crush on Jennifer Connelly is an understatement. The dynamite actress has wowed us for years with her brave, intuitive and downright sensual acting.
We first fell in love with her when we saw her in Darren Aronofsky’s disturbing but intriguing 2000 film Requiem for a Dream. The visual trip is a journey that involves a lot of sex and drugs. Connelly’s character goes to extreme lengths to get her and her boyfriend (Jared Leto) the substances they want. Some of the scenes are intense — you probably know which ones we’re talking about — but Connelly showed a lot of bravery. She always goes above and beyond in her acting.
She even took on a similar role 15 years later in Shelter. In it, she plays a homeless heroin addict who falls in love with a man played by Anthony Mackie. She is spectacular in Paul Bettany’s directorial debut.
Connelly has always been willing to strip it down in movies — whether physically or emotionally. We can’t forget her in The Hot Spot, Inventing The Abbotts, Of Love and Shadow and Mulholland Falls. Her comfort on screen feels empowering.
Now, we are obsessed with Connelly’s powerful presence in the TNT series Snowpiercer. She is second in command on the classist train and the voice of the train. She commands every room — or car — she walks into. It’s power like that that makes us love Jennifer Connelly so much. Here’s to hoping she keeps popping up in our favorite films and shows.
