Jessica Chastain is easily one of the most versatile actors working today. She’s gone from roles like bubbly, wannabe socialite Celia Foote in The Help to CIA officer Maya in Zero Dark Thirty. She was nominated for Academy Awards for both performances. Although 2011 was her breakout year, she has quickly proven she can do it all. While the film industry is currently at a standstill, Chastain has a lot of projects lined up. Let’s take a look at them now.

Ava

Chastain stars as Ava, a lethal assassin who works for a secretive black-ops organization. When an international job goes sideways, she finds herself alone. Now, with no one to turn to for help, she must fight to survive. Ava also stars Colin Farrell, Geena Davis and John Malkovich. It will come out on September 25, 2020. 

 

355

In a perfect follow-up to Ava, Chastain takes on another thriller. Not too much info has been released about 355, but what we do know is that  it will focus on an international spy ring fronted predominantly by women. In addition to Chastain, it stars Sebastian Stan, Penélope Cruz, Diane Kruger, Lupita Nyong’o and Edgar Ramírez. It is expected to come out on January 15, 2021.

 

The Eyes of Tammy Faye

This biopic will follow the rise and fall of televangelist Tammy Faye Bakker. In the 1970s and 80s, Tammy Faye and her husband, Jim Bakker (Andrew Garfield), created the world’s largest religious broadcasting network and theme park. As the saying goes, “the bigger they are, the harder they fall,” and fall they did.

 

The Forgiven 

While on their way to visit friends for a bacchanal (nothing good ever comes from a bacchanal), couple David and Jo accidentally hit a young man who jumps in front of their car on a dark desert road. As the night wears on and the festivities grow rowdier, David and Jo must grapple with their actions.

 

The Good Nurse

Based on journalist Charles Graeber’s book of the same name, The Good Nurse follows Charles Cullen (Eddie Redmayne). Cullen worked as a nurse in hospitals across the tri-state area. Everywhere he worked saw a surge of patient deaths, which was no coincidence. Although he only pled guilty to murdering 22 people, Cullen is likely responsible for murdering upwards of 100 patients. 

 

The Division

A group of bio-terrorists release a modified strain of Smallpox called the “Green Poison” in NYC. The rapid spread of the disease leads to the collapse of urban society and the rise of different factions vying for control. It is up to the newly activated Strategic Homeland Division to restore peace while scientists work on a cure.

 

Losing Clementine

Chastain stars as Clementine in this movie based on the novel of the same name. Clementine is a brilliant but tortured artist who decides that she is going to kill herself in 30 days. The movie follows those 30 days as she journeys through Los Angeles and Tijuana to tie up loose ends before the clock runs out.

 

George and Tammy

It turns out, Chastain will be playing two different real-life Tammy’s soon. This movie follows the romance between country musicians George Jones and Tammy Wynette. As of now, Chastain is the only actor attached to this project.
