Luc Besson’s Anna
Fierce and Sexy Female Assassin

French filmmaker Luc Besson’s latest feature (with a full-on sexy femme fatale in the lead), Anna is sure to set tongues wagging. Besson is sort of an aficionado of kick-ass women and is best known for 1990’s La Femme Nikita starring Anne Parillaud, 1994’s Léon: The Professional starring Jean Reno and a thirteen-year-old Natalie Portman, 2014’s Lucy starring Scarlett Johansson and1997’s The Fifth Element starring Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich—who could forget her classic tangerine orange hair?
Russian supermodel Sasha Luss plays the titular role in the upcoming Anna. She’s a beauty not to be messed with. As a government assassin, she can be seen going uncover and sporting various disguises—one moment she’s all dressed in fur as a cool blonde and, before we know it, she’s a brunette with a sleek bob wearing a black mini dress. Of course, the film is filled with non-stop action and lots of brutal violence; it’ll be interesting to see exactly what they come up with that’s original to the “cinéma du look” genre.
One of the most exciting aspects of the film is Cillian Murphy’s presence as he is undoubtedly gorgeous in everything. The film also features the incredible Helen Mirren as Olga—a stylish older Russian woman wearing oversized glasses. With an exciting cast complete with seasoned acting veterans as well as newcomers, Anna is sure to be a summer hit that doesn’t lack any excitement. Other than the over-the-top action and violence, it looks like it’s going to be filled with lots of beauty as well (mainly Sasha Luss as Anna), and with women taking center stage, it may even be considered a film for feminists.
