Simu Liu + Awkwafina are Kung Fu Fighting

Marvel is set to release another project, one that will highlight one of the unsung heroes of the MCU.

Off the heels of the hit mini series Falcon and the Winter Soldier, the MCU seems to be on fire; in ways they can seemingly do no wrong. 

With the upcoming Loki series on the horizon, the franchise is introducing more heroes to the fray. Come September 3rd, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will enter Disney Plus and movie theatres alike. 

The film will be based on the comic series created by Steve Englehart Jim Starlin, the “Master of Kung Fu’s” origins date back to the Bronze Age of comic books as far back as December of 1973.

 

Interacting with the likes of Iron Fist, the hero’s long-awaited film release is now weeks away. Originally pitched as far back as 2001 and set to release in 2020, the “Brother Hand” had to overcome a lot just to get to the big screen. The film is headlined by a host of actors such as Fala Chen, Michelle Yeoh, and Tony Leung.

The biggest name from the bunch is rapper, comedian, and Nora from Queens star Awkwafina. The lead actor for the film will be stuntman Simu Liu, the very first lead Asian protagonist in the MCU. Liu will be another addition to the rapidly growing diverse landscape that is in Marvel.

In light of Chadwick Boseman’s passing, one of the biggest takeaways from his impact was the massive reach it gave for representation in the black community. However it opened the door for not just one people of color, but for all.

Upon the release of 2020 video game Marvel’s Avengers, the modern-day fan was introduced to Ms. Marvel, a character that will also have her hand in the present phase of the MCU. As more content releases for Marvel, one can imagine the heroes introduced today will be the recognized legends of tomorrow. In regards to Shang-Chi, one could imagine what’s next.
