The trailer for Tenet, Christopher Nolan’s latest film just dropped and people are baffled. Seriously, what is going on in this trailer? If you’re still wondering what the end of his 2010 movie Inception meant, you’re going to be even more confused by Tenet. Because it’s so crazy, you’ll just have to watch for yourself. So, instead of trying to break it down, let’s get to know the cast. Tenet is scheduled to be released on July 17, 2020.

John David Washington

He may be Denzel Washington’s son, but John David Washington is becoming a star in his own right. He first gained critical acclaim with the leading role in Spike Lee’s BlacKkKlansman. He played an African-American police officer who infiltrated the KKK and he was nominated for the Golden Globe. The movie was based on a true story. For those who missed BlacKkKlansman, Washington may be more familiar as  Ricky Jerret on HBO’s Ballers.

Robert Pattinson

Gone are the days of this British actor portraying a sparkling vampire in the Twilight film franchise.  Pattinson has proven he really has the chops to be a star. Since leaving the mega-franchise that catapulted him to heartthrob status among teen girls, Pattinson has stuck to grittier and more independent projects, shying away from the limelight into which he was thrown. He will also be Batman in the upcoming movie, The Batman.

Elizabeth Debicki

This Paris-born actress of Polish and Australian descent got her big break in the 2013 Baz Luhrmann remake of The Great Gatsby when she played Jordan Baker. Since then, Debecki has continued to work steadily in both film and television. She had a starring role in the BBC’s, Tom Hiddleston-led, miniseries, The Night Manager.  She also played the renowned author Virginia Woolf, in Vita & Virginia. Plus, she found her way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She’s Ayesha in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and will revisit the role in the next installment.

Aaron Taylor-Johnson

While this British actor has been acting steadily since 2000, he grabbed the attention of teenage girls in Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging.  But, his life during 2009’s Nowhere Boy landed him in the gossip columns. During the John Lennon biopic, the 19-year-old Aaron Johnson started dating the film’s director, Sam Taylor, 23-years his senior. They married in  2012 and combined their last names to become Taylor-Johnson.

Clémence Poésy

Harry Potter fans will recognize this French actress for her portrayal of Fleur Delacour starting in Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. But it was her role as Chloe, Colin Farrell’s love interest in Martin McDonagh’s In Bruges, that rocketed her to international fame. In addition to a busy acting career, Poésy found success modeling for companies that include Gap, G-Star Raw, and Love Story, a perfume from Chloé.

Kenneth Branagh

Does this multi-talented British actor of the stage and screen even need an introduction? Whether you know this actor/director for his adaptation of Hamlet where he performed the To Be Or Not To Be soliloquy into a mirror, his role as the vain Gilderoy Lockhart in the Harry Potter series, or for his recent adaptation of Murder on the Orient Express, you have certainly seen him somewhere. Maybe you’re even still bitter about the time he cheated on his then-wife Emma Thompson with Helena Bonham Carter.

Michael Caine

Rounding out the cast of Tenet is the iconic Michael Caine. If you’re not familiar with this British actor, where have you been hiding? Caine has been acting steadily since the mid-1950s. Fans of his earlier roles may remember him as Alfie in the 1966 film of the same name.  Or, you know him from the scene where he kissed Superman-actor Christopher Reeve in Sidney Lumet’s 1982 adaptation of Deathtrap. That kiss reportedly cost the film millions at the box office. Aside from kissing Superman, Caine recently played Bruce Wayne’s butler, Alfred, in Christopher Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy.
