We may be in the middle of summer, and if you’re in NYC like me, it’s a real hot summer, but let’s take a moment to cool down with a look at some of the exciting films set to come out this November. We have a great slate of action, rom-coms, and awards-buzzy films.

KNIVES OUT

This movie, set to come out November 27, has an insane cast: Daniel Craig, Christopher Plummer, Chris Evans, and more. The film follows a detective (Craig) who must catch the killer of a wealthy, eccentric old man (Plummer.) What’s more, this crime-comedy whodunnit, helmed by Rian Johnson of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, looks like the perfect blend of Clue meets Murder On The Orient Express. If you love a good whodunnit as much as I do, this movie is for you.

HARRIET

This biopic about the famous abolitionist, Harriet Tubman, who escaped slavery and went on to lead hundreds of former slaves to freedom via the Underground Railroad is set to come out November 1. With Cynthia Erivo starring as Tubman, the cast is rounded out by Leslie Odom Jr., Joe Alwyn, and Janelle Monáe. WIth a script by Kasi Lemmons (Eve’s Bayou) and Gregory Allen Howard (Remember The Titans), directed by Lemmons, and a powerhouse cast, this sure seems poised to be awards-bait.

THE RHYTHM SECTION

How many action movies center around a man seeking revenge after his family is murdered? Countless. Now it’s time to flip the script with this upcoming thriller, The Rhythm Section, set to come out November 22. The film stars Blake Lively as Stephanie Patrick, a woman seeking answers after her family is killed in a plane crash that was no accident. Jude Law and Sterling K. Brown co-stars in the film, the details, or even names, of their characters have not been released, so expect some juicy twists.

LAST CHRISTMAS

Her Khaleesi days may be behind her, but Emilia Clarke is still keeping busy, she stars in this upcoming romantic-comedy directed by Bridesmaids’ Paul Feig with a script by Bryony Kimmings and Emma Thompson. Not much has been divulged about the actual plot of the film, but it was inspired by George Michael, so take from that what you will. The film also stars Henry Golding, Emma Thompson, and Michelle Yeoh. Who doesn’t love a good holiday rom-com?

HONEY BOY

Shia LaBeouf wrote the script for this upcoming drama, based on his childhood and his relationship with his father. In addition to writing the script, LaBeouf also stars in it alongside Lucas Hedges, Noah Jupe, FKA Twigs, and Natasha Lyonne. According to IMDb, the film is about a child actor (Jupe) who tries to repair his relationship with his ne’er-do-well dad. The film was directed by Alma Har’el and is set for release on November 8. This promises to be an interesting film.
