5 New, Intriguing Films To Stream

October is right around the corner, and you know what that means. Goblins, ghouls, witches, vampires, werewolves, yep, it’s Halloween month. And who doesn’t love to get ready for Halloween by watching spooky movies? Unless you’re one of those people who likes to pretend the night of frights doesn’t exist. Below, we have rounded up five new movies coming to Netflix this October, some scary and some not, that we are excited to see.
Dick Johnson is Dead (10/2)
In this dark comedic documentary, filmmaker Kirsten Johnson grapples with her father’s impending death by enacting different dark and macabre ways in which he can die. The movie won the Special Jury Award for Innovation in Non-fiction Storytelling at the Sundance Film Festival.
A Babysitter’s Guide to Monster Hunting (10/14)
When monsters abduct a teenage babysitter’s charge, she joins a secret society of babysitters who hunt and fight monsters. It is one Halloween movie that promises fun for the whole family. It stars Tom Felton (Draco Malfoy from the Harry Potter franchise) and Indya Moore (Pose).
The Trial of the Chicago 7 (10/16)
This Aaron Sorkin movie follows the true story of the seven defendants charged with conspiracy and inciting riots in 1969 for anti-Vietnam war actions with an A-list cast. Did we mention that the cast includes Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Sacha Baron Cohen, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Eddie Redmayne, and more?
Rebecca (10/21)
This new adaptation of the Daphne du Maurier gothic novel of the same name follows a newlywed (Lily James) who finds herself haunted by the shadow of her husband’s (Armie Hammer) first wife, the mysterious Rebecca. Not helping is the caretaker, Mrs. Danvers (Kristin Scott Thomas), whose loyalty still lies with Rebecca.
His House (10/30)
A young couple from South Sudan escapes their war-torn country for England. However, not all is as it seems in their new home, and as they struggle to acclimate themselves, they find a new evil lurking beneath the surface. His House had its world premiere at the Sundance Film Festival.
