Kerry Washington and Anthony Mackie Star

Although this excellent film is eight years old, it couldn’t be more pertinent. The consistently awesome Anthony Mackie (The Avengers, Detroit) stars as Marcus, a former Black Panther who returns to his race-torn Philly neighborhood in 1976. There he finds things have changed, but not his feelings for his ex-girlfriend, Patricia, played by the scandalously good actor, Kerry Washington. Directed by Tanya Hamilton, who has gone on to helm many well-received episodes for television shows like The Chi, Black Lightening, and Queen Sugar, the film is packed with violence, racial unrest, and of course, hot make-up sex by our two attractive leads. With music by The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon‘s house band, The Roots, this is a timely film worth catching.
