PROFILE: SAMARA WEAVING
Ready or Not Here She Comes

Get ready for your newest actor obsession, Samara Weaving. Weaving was born on February 23, 1992 in Adelaide, Australia, the daughter of filmmaker Simon Weaving and Helena Bezzina. And, no, she doesn’t just share a last name with famous actor Hugo Weaving, she is his niece.
Like many other Australian stars, she got her start in Australian soap operas. Specifically, Out of the Blue and Home and Away (other notable stars to get their starts on Home and Away include Eliza Scanlen and Chris Hemsworth). From there, Weaving moved on to film roles and American TV, landing a recurring role in the Starz show Ash vs. Evil Dead, and working alongside her uncle in the crime thriller Mystery Road.
2017 brought about more recognition for her, with roles in the award-winning Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri and as the eponymous babysitter in Netflix’s The Babysitter. She also co-starred in the Showtime’s SMILF and the miniseries, Picnic at Hanging Rock.
Most recently, she starred as Grace in the black-comedy/horror movie Ready or Not (which I wrote about last month for Provokr and came out in theaters on August 21, 2019.) Ready or Not is about a woman, Grace, who marries into an immensely wealthy family and, on her wedding night, is forced to play a deadly game of hide and seek with her new in-laws. Go see it, it’s a blast.
Weaving has lots on the horizon, including starring opposite Daniel Radcliffe in the upcoming Guns Akimbo, and the third addition to the cult-classic Bill & Ted franchise, Bill & Ted Face the Music.
Weaving has been engaged to creative producer, Jimmy Warden since March, 2019.
