In We Summon The Darkness, the midwest is shaken up by a killing spree thought to be the work of a satanic cult. When Alexis (Alexandra Daddario), Val (Maddie Hasson) and Bev (Amy Forsyth) take a cross-country road trip to a heavy metal concert, they end up bonding with three aspiring-musicians. The women decide to take the men back to one of their country homes for a night of fun. What begins as a party quickly turns into a deadly game. As bodies rapidly pile up and the friends fight for their lives, they have to determine if the killer is one of them or someone else.

The movie, set in the late 1980s, was the height of satanic panic in the United States. But the real cases believed to be the work of Satanists turned out to be something else. Films have been mining that panic for inspiration for years and we’re not going to complain.

We Summon The Darkness had its world premiere on September 21, 2019, at the Fantastic Fest and was snapped up for distribution by Saban Pictures. It was directed by Marc Meyers, from a script written by Alan Trezza. In addition to Daddario, Masson and Forsyth, the film stars Keean Johnson, Logan Miller and Johnny Knoxville. The theatrical release, scheduled for April 10, 2020, was cancelled because of the coronavirus pandemic. However, the studio will release it on streaming platforms.
