PROVOKR PICK: HIGH LIFE

A group of death row criminals accept a mission in space to become subjects of a human reproductive experiment. Bravo to Robert Pattinson for continuing to choose more exotic and daring roles. This visually stunning film is directed by the french film maker Claire Denis and is her first English-language film. Juliette Bincohe plays a somewhat “mad” doctor and is also a convicted criminal on board to sedate and care for the inmates. Mia Goth plays another of the criminals on board. Everyone is shot beautifully and is beautiful, but there is a catch. There is to be no physical contact. Pattinson turns in a haunting performance. A daughter of Pattinson’s character survives. Cosmic rays hit the ship and a tale of love and intimacy builds. The film is a thrilling achievement.

The parental warnings alone make us want to see the film. R for disturbing sexual scenes and violent content including sexual assault, graphic nudity and for language. All that and Robert Pattinson too!
