In an Honest Thief, Liam Neeson stars as “In-and-Out Bandit” Tom Carter. After falling in love with Annie Sumpter (Kate Walsh), Carter decides he wants out of the crime business and to lead an honest life. He turns himself into the FBI and cuts a deal: in exchange for a lesser sentence, he’ll return all the money he stole. Things turn sideways when two crooked federal agents, John Nivens (Jai Courtney) and Ramon Hall (Anthony Ramos), frame him for murder. Now on the run, he must figure out how to clear his name and bring down the agents.

The trailer introduces us to Neeson’s honest bandit. He explains that he has robbed twelve banks in seven different states and walked away with just over nine million dollars in cash. Because he wants to spend the rest of his life with Annie and be truthful about his past, he decides to turn himself in to the FBI. When we meet special agents Hall and Nivens, you can tell immediately they’re up to no good. They don’t just frame Carter for any murder, but with the murder of a fellow agent and senior officer.

Mark Williams directed Honest Thief from a script he co-wrote with Steve Allrich. In addition to the previously mentioned actors, the film also stars Jeffrey Donovan, Robert Patrick, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Mark Duplass, and Cole Hauser. It was set for release on September 4, 2020, but pushed back twice because of the pandemic.

See Honest Thief, in select theaters, now set for October 16, 2020.
