PROVOKR PICK: INHERITANCE
Lily Collins and Simon Pegg Duel in a Thriller

In the new thriller Inheritance, when Archer Monroe (Patrick Warburton), the patriarch of a wealthy and influential family, passes away, he leaves an envelope for his daughter Lauren (Lily Collins). It contains directions to a secret bunker. Inside the shelter, Lauren finds a prisoner, Morgan (Simon Pegg). Who Morgan is and why her father locked him away is a mystery. Lauren, the District Attorney for New York County, must figure out who her father really was and who Morgan is before her father’s secrets destroy her family.
The trailer released by Vertical Entertainment in March certainly evokes Bong Joon-ho’s Oscar-winning Parasite with its man hidden in a bunker and the power-play of HBO’s Succession. So, if either appeals to you, then be sure to check this one out. Whether it will live up to either Parasite or Succession is unknown, but the trailer suggests it will be a fun watch at the very least.
Inheritance was the first feature penned by Matthew Kennedy and directed by Vaughn Stein (Terminal). In addition to Collins, Pegg and Warburton, Inheritance also stars Connie Nielsen, Chase Crawford, Marque Richardson and Michael Beach. Inheritance was supposed to have its world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in April, but the pandemic canceled the event. Nevertheless, Vertical Entertainment acquired it for distribution and it will stream on VOD.
Watch Inheritance beginning on May 22, 2020.
