In Miranda July’s new crime-comedy, 26-year-old Old Dolio (Evan Rachel Wood) has spent her life being trained by her parents, Theresa (Debra Winger) and Robert (Richard Jenkins), to cheat her way through life. While in the middle of an ill-conceived heist, Theresa and Robert convince a stranger, Melanie (Gina Rodriguez), to join them on their next caper. Inviting a new woman into the fold upends Old Dolio’s way of life, and soon she finds herself torn between her family and the promise of a brand new life with Melanie.

The trailer introduces us to Old Dolio and her family of con artists and lets us glimpse how they go about their underhanded business. It opens with Old Dolio as she breaks into a post office to steal mail directly from strangers’ mailboxes. When bright-eyed Melanie enters the fold, we watch as Old Dolio feels emotionally pushed out by her parents. Things appear to change when Melanie gives Old Dolio the emotional connection and affection that her cold parents never did. The trailer promises us a highly quirky movie that is also an in-depth character study into Old Dolio.
