PROVOKR PICK: UNHINGED
Russell Crowe's Horrifying Ride

Picture this, you’re out on the road, driving somewhere. Maybe you’re running late, so you’re trying to get to your destination as quickly as possible. You signal and turn onto a new road. Another car, one you hadn’t noticed before, seems to be getting dangerously close to yours. Suddenly, the other driver honks at you, but why? And now, he’s shouting at you, but you can’t make out the words. At the next red light, he pulls up next to you. You can see the anger bubbling out of him. When you made that turn, you accidentally cut him off. No harm, right? Unfortunately, his behavior is teetering on the brink of volatility, that one act of cutting him off has set him over the edge and into a violent rage. It sounds terrifying. Unfortunately, instances like this do happen. It is also the basis for Russell Crowe’s new movie, Unhinged.
Rachel (Caren Pistorius) is a divorced, single mother who finds herself the target of a madman after accidentally cutting him off while driving. That madman, who is only known as The Man (Crowe), feels disgruntled and invisible in his daily life. He seizes on Rachel’s perceived slight and decides to take revenge. Soon, Rachel and her friends and family are all at risk. The movie was written by Carl Ellsworth and directed by Derrick Borte. In addition to Crowe and Pistorius, Unhinged stars Jimmi Simpson, Gabriel Bateman and Michael Papajohn.
Unhinged was initially scheduled to be theatrically released on July 1, 2020. Its release was pushed back to the end of the month due to theaters not reopening. Solstice Studios recently delayed the start date again. It was to come out on-demand July 31, 2020, but it is now scheduled for August 21, 2020.
