RIDLEY SCOTT’s THE LAST DUEL
Adam Driver, Jodie Comer, Matt Damon & Ben Affleck
Ridley Scott’s new film The Last Duel is based on the 2004 book of the same by medieval literature professor Eric Jager. Both the movie and book tell the story of the “duel to end all duels” between French Knight Jean de Carrouges and squire Jacques Le Gris over the honor Marguerite de Carrouges. This fight was the pay-per-view event of 1386, and even King Charles VI showed up to watch them battle to the death.

The Last Duel is currently in post-production and set for release in mid-October 2021. Let’s take a look at the A-list cast now and who they’re playing.

Adam Driver
Driver will play the squire Jacques Le Gris. Driver has been very busy since his days as Star Wars villain Kylo Ren. He’s currently filming House of Gucci, directed by Ridley Scott, and his new film Annette (with Marion Cotillard) is scheduled to come out this summer.

Jodi Comer
Comer, the breakout star of Killing Eve, will play Jean’s wife, Marguerite de Carrouges. In addition to this, Comer will also star alongside Ryan Reynolds in Free Guy, which will follow a man who realizes he’s a background character in a video game.

Matt Damon
Damon stars as the Knight Jean de Carrouges, who accuses his former best friend Jacques Le Gris of raping his wife Marguerite de Carrouges. Damon currently has several films in post-production and a host of projects lined up.

Ben Affleck
Affleck will portray King Charles VI, who, funnily enough, was a teenager when this duel took place. It’s ok; we’ll let it slide. In addition to The Last Duel, Affleck has nearly a dozen acting and producing projects in various stages of development.
