They say there’s nothing greater than a mother’s love. What about when that love turns into an obsession? Sarah Paulson stars as the mother from hell in Run. From the imagination of Aneesh Chaganty (Searching), Run centers on a home-schooled teenage girl (newcomer Kiera Allen) who suspects that her overprotective mother (Paulson) is harboring deep secrets.

Lionsgate just released a trailer for this Mother’s Day-weekend horror movie and it looks just as creepy as you’d expect. It opens with a distraught-seeming Paulson peering at a baby in the neonatal intensive care unit. She asks if the baby will be ok and then the trailer cuts to Diane (Paulson), waking up gasping from a nightmare. What all this means for the movie is yet to be known. The trailer then takes us years into the future and we meet Chloe (Allen), a teenage girl in a wheelchair. At first, Chloe seems close to her mother, but soon she begins to wonder if her mom isn’t quite who she claims to be. Viewers are sure to start coming up with theories about what Diane’s secrets may be. Perhaps the baby from the beginning of the trailer didn’t survive and Chloe was another newborn who Diane kidnapped. Of course, we won’t know until the movie is released.

Check out the eerie trailer here and be sure to take your mother to see Run when it comes out on May 8, 2020.
