Samara Weaving may be the niece of famous Australian actor Hugo Weaving, but she has carved her own path. Like many famous Australian actors, she started on the Aussie soap operas Out of the Blue and Home and Away. Her role as Heather in the Starz miniseries Ash vs. Evil Dead introduced her to U.S. audiences. Since her 3-episode arc on the horror/comedy show, she is working on bigger projects. She starred as the titular babysitter in Netflix’s horror/comedy The Babysitter and its sequel and played Penelope in the Oscar-nominated Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.

Let’s take a look at her upcoming projects.

Snake Eyes: G.I. Joe Origins

Yes, there’s a new G.I. Joe movie, and this one will not star Channing Tatum. In this upcoming project, Henry Golding stars as the titular Snake Eyes. Weaving is Scarlett, but few other details have been revealed.  Robert Schwentke directed the movie from a script by Evan Spiliotopoulos. It is scheduled for release on July 23, 2021.

Nine Perfect Strangers

This TV miniseries is based on Liane Moriarty’s novel of the same name. Set at a wellness retreat, it follows, yep, nine strangers who meet at this remote spa. They are all there for different reasons. As their respective visits wear on, they find their lives being changed by those around them.

The series has a star-studded cast that, in addition to Weaving, includes Nicole Kidman, Melissa McCarthy, Luke Evans, and more. Nine Perfect Strangers will start airing later this year on Hulu.

The Valet

This upcoming comedy from director Richard Wong is an English-language remake of Francis Veber’s 2006 film. The movie follows a valet and a top model who pretend to be a couple to help save a CEO’s marriage.

Bob Fisher and Rob Greenberg co-wrote this remake. In addition to Weaving, it stars Max Greenfield, Marisol Nichols, Betsy Brandt, and Eugenio Derbez. This title is listed on IMDb as in production, and there’s no release date.

Liz

This upcoming biopic is in the very early stages. Right now, Weaving is the only actor attached to the project. She will portray American socialite Elizabeth Patterson Bonaparte. Yes, she was related to that other Bonaparte, Napoleon. Adam Leon is directing the biographical drama from a script by Gabriel Neustadt.

Down the Rabbit Hole

No, this upcoming miniseries has nothing to do with Alice in Wonderland. This Sony Pictures limited series will dive deep into the world of the Playboy empire. Weaving will star as former playmate Holly Madison in this show that spotlights the Playboy Mansion. There is currently no release date.
