SARAH PAULSON IN RUN
Hulu's Thriller About One Bad Mama

Diane Sherman (Sarah Paulson) is the perfect mother to her chronically ill and disabled daughter Chloe (Kiera Allen). She tends to Chloe’s every need. Whether it be her medications or nutrition, Diane is there for her. She seems perfect, until Chloe starts to suspect that her mother is harboring very dark secrets. Of course, the more Chloe digs into her mother’s past, the more dangerous her life at home becomes. When Chloe discovers that one of her medications is actually in her mother’s name, she realizes something sinister is happening. It makes us wonder just how sick is Chloe? Has Diane been faking Chloe’s illness? Is this a case of Munchausen By Proxy, like the highly publicized case of Dee Dee and Gypsy Rose Blanchard? Munchausen By Proxy is described as “a mental health problem in which a caregiver makes up or causes an illness or injury in a person under his or her care, such as a child, an elderly adult, or a person who has a disability.”
Aneesh Chaganty directed Run from a script he co-wrote with Sev Ohanian. The project is the follow-up to the writing duo’s previous thriller Searching, which also had a parent-child relationship at the center of the story, albeit in a very different manner. While Run is predominantly a two-hander, there are a few other players in the film, most notably Chloe’s friend Kammy (Sara Sohn) and Diane’s ex-husband Ted (Pat Healy).
Run was initially supposed to be theatrically released on May 8, 2020, to coincide with Mother’s Day weekend. That release was postponed due to the coronavirus. Eventually, Hulu acquired the film’s distribution rights and decided to forego a theatrical release altogether.
Run is scheduled to be released on Hulu on November 20, 2020.
