It is 1993, during the Troubles in Northern Ireland. IRA operative Collette (Andrea Riseborough) is arrested in the London Underground after leaving a bomb. Mac (Clive Owen), an agent with the British Security Service, MI5, offers Collette a deal to to become an informer, and with her son in mind, she accepts. When Mac learns that his superior, Kate Fletcher (Gillian Anderson), is using Collette to protect a mole inside the IRA, he struggles to save her.
