Move Over Clue, It’s Time For KNIVES OUT

BY: Amanda Jane Stern

In all fairness, Clue doesn’t really have to move over. Who doesn’t love it? It’s a star-studded, classic mystery-comedy based on a beloved board game. But, Clue came out in 1985, so it is high time for a new hilarious mystery with a famous cast, and it looks like we are getting just that with Rian Johnson’s newest movie, Knives Out.

Wealthy and eccentric crime writer Harlan Thombrey invites his family to his mansion for his 85th birthday celebration. When Harlan turns up murdered, Detective Benoit Blanc and Detective Lieutenant Elliot come in to solve the case. Tensions rise when Blanc declares everyone in the house a suspect and insists none of them leave.

I love a good whodunnit and from the trailer, Knives Out looks like the perfect combination of Murder On The Orient Express and Clue. Knowing that Johnson was influenced by Agatha Christie as well as Clue and Deathtrap, I am expecting a whole lot of twists and turns. I also would not be surprised if there turned out to be more than one murderer. Knives Out promises to be a great time.

Knives Out was written and directed by Rian Johnson (Star Wars: The Last Jedi) and boasts a stellar cast of stars: Daniel Craig, Chris Evans, Ana de Armas, Jamie Lee Curtis, Toni Collette, Don Johnson, Michael Shannon, Lakeith Stanfield, Katherine Langford, Jaeden Martell, and Christopher Plummer as Harlan Thombrey.

Knives Out will be released by Lionsgate into theaters on November 27, 2019.
