This Best Picture Winner Blows Us Away
PROVOKRs, you’re not going to believe the movie we have for you this week for Movie of the Week. It’s Danny Boyle’s Bollywood-inspired Best Picture winner Slumdog Millionaire, which stars none other than Dev Patel.
The 2008 film follows Mumbai teenager Jamal (Patel) as he reflects on his life after being accused of cheating on the Indian version of Who Wants To Be A Millionaire. When Jamal is arrested, he uses his childhood to demonstrate his knowledge and where he learned the answers to each of the show’s questions.
The feature film was Dev Patel’s breakout role. He was shockingly left out of the Best Actor category that year, but luckily he picked up a nomination years later for Lion. Slumdog Millionaire, though, won a whopping eight Oscars, including Best Picture. Watch it for free on PROVOKR today.
