Damien Chazelle’s next film, Babylon, is shrouded in mystery. Much of the plot remains unknown with a vague synopsis so far: it’s a period film said to take place in the Golden Age of Hollywood. That in itself opens the door to 50 years’ worth of cinematic history. But where the plot remains under wraps, its star-studded cast is not. Instead, some of Hollywood’s most prominent names convene on one set under the direction of the Oscar-winning director and screenwriter. With production underway and a Christmas 2022 release date, all we know about Babylon are the people who will assume its roles. You can take a look at the decadent cast and revel in its beauty, PROVOKRs.

OLIVIA WILDE

As if Olivia Wilde isn’t doing enough, she’s diving back into acting. It comes as she pieces together her thriller Don’t Worry Darling, which stars her boyfriend, Harry Styles. Her acting gave way to her directing titles such as Booksmart. She’s even rumored to be directing a Spider-Woman movie, propelling her into the land of Marvel. 2022 might be her year.

TOBEY MAGUIRE

Tobey Maguire is making a huge comeback. There are rumors he’ll reprise his iconic role as Peter Parker in the upcoming Spider-Man: No Way Home, but we have a hunch Marvel won’t divulge that information too soon. Maguire hasn’t done any acting since 2017, which was voice work for The Boss Baby. So the last time we saw him on screen was in 2013’s Pawn Sacrifice.

MARGOT ROBBIE

On the other end of the spectrum, we have Margot Robbie, who is seemingly in everything. (We can’t complain.) Along with playing Harley Quinn in every DC film imaginable, Robbie also produces and has multiple acting roles lined up. She’s set to star in David O. Russell’s next film, as well as portraying Barbie with Greta Gerwig at the helm.

BRAD PITT

It seems Brad Pitt wants to work with every big director in Hollywood, so he’s adding Chazelle to his collection. The only glimpse we have into the production of Babylon involves Pitt, captured by paparazzi in an elegant black suit and bowtie and sporting a well-groomed mustache. Safe to say, his streak of looking dapper continues.

LI JUN LI

Li Jun Li’s character might provide more insight into the times. She’ll portray actress Anna May Wong, who was at the height of her career in the ’30s. Up to this point, Li has spent most of her TV career in shows like Why Women Kill, The Exorcist, Quantico, and Blindspot. You might recognize her as Francesca in Netflix’s steamy series Sex/Life.

MAX MINGHELLA

The Handmaid’s Tale hunk Max Minghella is finding his way out of Gilead. After starring as June’s (Elisabeth Moss) love interest, Nick, Babylon will mark his first significant film role and take his career to the next level.

SAMARA WEAVING

OK, having Samara Weaving and Robbie in the same film is too cruel. They look so similar, and Weaving is also in everything at the moment! Nevertheless, we are excited to see her among these famous ranks. Weaving takes on multiple projects a year, and 2021 was no different. Currently, she is in Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers and is in the Henry Golding-led action film Snake Eyes.

FLEA

It’s always a fun time when Flea shows up. But, of course, this isn’t the Red Hot Chilli Peppers drummer’s first acting gig. He also made an appearance in Baby Driver, Boy Erased, and other projects.

KATHERINE WATERSON

Last but not least, we have Katherine Waterson. After launching onto the scene in 2012 as Emma Harrow McCready in Boardwalk Empire, Waterson found more prominent roles. She got an even bigger break when she landed a lead spot in Fantastic Beasts and To Find Them, part of Harry Potter IP. Most recently, she starred as Vanessa Kirby’s love interest in The World To Come. We can’t wait to see what Babylon offers!
