In The Gentlemen, Mickey Pearson (Matthew McConaughey) is an American expat who has built himself a wildly successful drug empire in London, England. When word gets around that Mickey is looking to cash out of the drug business and retire, hi-jinks ensue in this wild looking new movie from the vivid imagination of none other than Guy Ritchie.
The brand new trailer opens with Fletcher (Hugh Grant) narrating to Raymond (Charlie Hunnam) about the upcoming drug war that is to come between Henry Golding (whose character has not been named online) and his boss, Mickey. Henry wants to buy Mickey’s drug empire, but Mickey informs him he is not for sale. Of course, if his boss is involved, Raymond has no choice but to be dragged into the fray.
Also entering the scene is Michelle Dockery’s (also so far unnamed) femme fatale in Christian Louboutin heels. On whose side will she inevitably end up being? Only watching the movie will answer that. Knowing the tropes of the femme fatale, she could very well end up being on her own side, sneakily inserting herself into Mickey’s life to help him in his fight against Henry Golding, only to double cross him at the end and take the empire all for herself.
Of course, this is all only conjecture as only one trailer has so far been released and not much other information has yet been printed. Also joining the aforementioned actors in this tale of dueling drug dealers are Jeremy Strong, Eddie Marsan, and Colin Farrell. Be sure to be on the lookout for more trailers to drop or more information to be released, or don’t, you can always wait for the movie to come out and go in knowing nothing but the basic plot, that might make for an even more fun experience, it’s a Guy Ritchie film, you know it’s going to be cinematically beautiful and conceptually wild.
The Gentlemen is scheduled to be released on January 24, 2020 by STX Entertainment.
