THE GOOD, THE BAD AND THE UGLY
Clint Eastwood In The Ultimate Spaghetti Western

For our Movie of the Week this week, PROVOKRs, we bring you a classic: Sergio Leone’s The Good, The Bad and The Ugly. As one of the most famous Spaghetti Westerns, it stars Clint Eastwood as gunslinger Blondie.
The 1966 film is the third of three in the Dollars Trilogy. The adventure western was preceded by A Fistful of Dollars (1964) and A Few Dollars More (1965). The final installment follows three men (yes, one good, one bad, and one ugly) as they race to find a buried fortune in a cemetery. Blondie pairs up with a man named Tuco (Eli Wallach), and together they attempt to beat villain Angel Eyes (Lee Van Cleef) to the bounty.
Spaghetti Westerns were Italian instrumental films shot like the American Westerns that predated them. The genre sparked inspiration in many modern directors, including Quentin Tarantino.
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is only brought more to life by Ennio Morricone’s miraculous and iconic score. It was dubbed for American audiences, and its legacy continues. Because of its international production, it was shamefully not nominated for any Academy Awards. But what does that matter? The Good, The Bad and The Ugly is one of the most iconic movies ever, and you can watch it for free on PROVOKR this week.
