In this new romantic tale set on a remote island off the coast of Western Australia in the years following World War I, Oscar winner Alicia Vikander and Michael Fassbender play a lighthouse keeper and his wife who rescue a baby washed ashore and decide to raise it as their own. When they encounter the child’s real mother (Rachel Weisz) years later, they must make a fateful decision. Written for the screen and directed by Derek Cianfrance (Blue Valentine; The Place Beyond the Pines), The Light Between Oceans is based on the best-selling novel by M.L. Stedman.
